I have just read that the fungi and other critters need a HOME
So that spreading a layer of Biochar increases the number of critters
And benefit of adding woodchips
Comments please? Thank you

I have spoken highly of ramial wood chips and mycorrhizal connection in many ways and places. My understanding of biochar is more limited but I do think of those microscopic carbon pores as a good place for fungal hyphae to access nutrients. Mycorrhizae are affiliated with roots ... so in truth it's more legitimate to acknowledge roots as "the home" of these important allies. The Mercola article which Elliot references had good info but not everything in it was quite square (ie., you can't brew mycorrhizae ala compost tea.)

Do some biochar trials with fruit trees and report in.
