Peach disease
May 24, 2018 07:07PM
I have something going on with my peaches . They have been prone to leaf curl but I hit them quite hard with copper this year . That part is looking good . But now I'm finding the branches are seeping . In some places the bark has split in others it's where I did a pruning cut . The " ooze " is both clear or amber in colour . Branches will go dark and die off .
sorry not able to get pictures . Any thoughts ?

Hi David,

Sounds like Cytospora Canker

Three sites to learn more . . .
[extension.colostate.edu]
[extension.psu.edu]
[pnwhandbooks.org]

. . . and a video to show you some careful pruning approaches to this problem in peaches
[youtu.be]

Good luck!

Good job using the Just Talk category to figure out an unknown, guys. Now in my editorial role . . . it would be excellent to start a new thread specifically on "Cytospora Canker" in the Fungal Pathogens section where people now explore experiences and hopefully real-time suggestions to tone down this specific bark challenge for stone fruit..
