While not exactly a predator of fruit, they sure do like a grower. I am having a banner year for them. Anyone have a seemingly effective personal deterrent that does not involve deet or other complex/synthetic compound of dubious long term consequences?

Lakes Region NH @ 1200' or so

393 planted towards a 440 goal mixed apple, pear, plum and apricot...

Guinea Fowl can be effective against ticks. They are a popular organic solution often recommended here in California. As a matter of fact, we have a local guinea expert known as the Guinea Lady right here in my neck of the woods.

Long term plans include an array of feathered creatures, guineas being one, tractored through the spread; I should have been more specific. Currently what time and budget I have for animal husbandry is tied up in swine. I was thinking more along the lines of what might be applied to pant and boot where they meet other than duck tape, which is my current lunacy. It helps, but is less than adequately effective, and a tad cumbersome…
